Our Research

The Kast Lab takes a multi-pronged approach to basic science and translational medicine: we collaborate and work with multiple disciplines and researchers worldwide. Because of this we specialize in many different areas of science that range from basic virology, immunology, and cellular biology. In addition we develop novel therapies and run clinical trials that utilize the immune system to target cancers like cervical cancer. We now also have support for rare-disease research using the genetic material of the Indonesian and Bangladeshi Treemen. Listed below is the areas of research that we specialize in (please note, these links will become available as each page is built):

Basic Science:

  • Human Papillomavirus uptake, trafficking, and infection
  • Synergism between Herpes Simplex Virus and Human Papillomavirus
  • Langerhans cell biology

Translational Medicine:

  • What is Immunotherapy?
  • IRX-2 Phase II Clinical Trial
  • Cancer Vaccine Development
  • Immunotherapy in Cervical Cancer
  • Immunotherapy in Prostate Cancer
  • Biomarker detection in Ovarian Cancer
